March 7th, 2008
10:02 pm - A Blizzard in MARCH?! NOT.COOL. We are having a blizzard right now. In March. Cincinnati is having a blizzard in March. There's a sentence I never thought I'd say. The snow started falling earlier today where we got about two to three inches and its been falling again since about 7 PM and right now there's about five to six inches on the ground. It's not even pretty snow...its falling like crazy and falling diagonally right with the very cold wind. What did Cincy do to Mother Nature to deserve having this crappy weather?! If we pissed her off somehow, I'm VERY sorry. =( We're supposed to have anywhere from 8-12 inches on the ground by tomorrow evening and that total could be more depending on where you live in the tri-state area. KILL.ME.NOW. =P My mom was supposed to have a Stamp Camp this weekend but with the crappy weather going on, she postponed it to a few days later in March. I just can't believe this weather. Here I thought with SOI being in March that we wouldn't have any problems with snow like last year. We're about two weeks away from SOI coming back to Cincy and we could have a foot of snow on the ground tomorrow. As long as it doesn't happen on the 20th or I'm sure I'll end up doing something drastic. =P (WTH? We're having thundersnow and lightening too?! YIKES.)
Work has had it's good days and bad days. I still think the higher ups don't really understand our department which makes things very challenging and the asshat coworker is still being a pain in the behind. She left work today at like 11 AM to beat the snow home (she drives a little sports car that doesn't do well in bad weather) and didn't run it by our manager! She just left and told the president of the company's secretary that she was leaving. Um, that lady has no right to tell anyone to go home early and we were just stunned that she left without getting proper permission. She tried to find our sales director but he was doing an interview this morning but then she never thought to find Sarah (the manager I covered for while she was on maternity leave) to run things by her. Our other manager is off work for a week because his wife had their baby yesterday (baby boy, 9 pounds!!) but Sarah never left the building for lunch so clearly asshat didn't search hard enough to find her. Sarah was LIVID when she found out asshat was gone and THEN, another of my coworkers decided to leave early because her husband got let out of work early and she had to get a ride home with him (they carpool). Sarah only found out about the asshat when she saw Darlene with her coat on and waiting for her husband to pick her up. Half our department was gone without even letting the manager know about it! I had to cover phones today to help out (I was NOT happy about that either, I didn't even know Virginia had left!) and my end of the month stuff got put off for another day which annoyed me since I'm trying so hard to get things done in a timely manner. It was a rough day and when you add the slow drive home to an annoying day at work, it makes for one exhausted Heather. And I'm sure the asshat is going to get an earful on Monday...I almost want to go in early just to hear it, LOL ;)
The Orioles are still trying to send Brian to the Cubs. WHY THE CUBS?! Can't they send him to a team that I can root for?! I don't want to root against him but if he's a Cub, then I won't be able to cheer for him because the Cubs are in the same division as my Reds. I'm a Reds fan more than a Cubs fan and no matter how much I adore the guy, I just can't root for him in this case. The Cubs aren't even offering anyone of value to help out the Orioles either so I'm hoping the deal either falls through and the O's keep him until a better deal comes along (preferably from a team I don't hate, LOL). I cannot stand the Cubs. Their fans take over the Reds ballpark and make life miserable for any Reds fans in attendance. I have no problem with other team's fans coming to support their team but them treating us like garbage, yelling crap at my players, and being disrespectful of our park is really annoying. It doesn't help that Cubs fans invaded the Orioles board I post at and are the most obnoxious people I've ever seen online. They make some of the people at FSU look like saints. I'm still extremely excited about baseball season (I get 145 games on FSN Ohio and three Fox games this year!) but this whole situation has totally annoyed the heck out of me. I feel bad for Brian too because he could seriously end up getting traded like a week before Opening Day and suddenly have to learn a whole new team, a whole new way of doing things, the national league teams, and he won't have much time to work with the other infielders either. It just seems so unfair. I feel like if they were going to make a move for him, they should have done it with some time for all the players to get adjusted to their new surroundings. This screws everyone over no matter what they do. I'm starting to think GMs aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. =P
I think I'm out of things to say tonight, so I'm going to go play some games at Pogo.com for a while and then head to bed. I'm exhausted and more than ready for a good night of sleep. I'm so glad I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow! I may take some pictures of the snow and post them at Facebook tomorrow night because this is really insane. I really need to move to Arizona or somewhere else warm with no big threats of natural disasters, LOL ;)
